Our first fixture of the season turned out to be very closely fought on both sides. Many of the games went on to 3 sets and the overall winner had to be decided with the last pairing.
First of all, my thanks to everyone who cheered us on and to Damien for some quick advice between games. With the opposition bringing spectators who clapped after every point they won, the support was really appreciated.
Ting and Sam proved to be tough opponents, turning games around and forcing the other side to drastically change tactics. The same goes for Kathleen and Kee, playing some excellent shots and keeping the pressure on. Really well done both pairs for your continued effort and not least for your wins, which were well deserved.
I think the first match really set the tone for the afternoon, with it coming down to the third game and even then, carrying on until 26 points. My partner Lena proved invaluable at the net and in the long rallies. Many times I was left standing at the back with nothing to do except watch as she ran the other side all over the court.
It's a promising start to the season, especially with the lack of mixed practice opportunities. Well Done.
