Another season, another set of match reports by yours truly!
Our first match of the season took us ALL THE WAY to the cathedral town of Canterbury whose verdant scenery provided a pleasant backdrop for the endurance-testing 2 hr journey. The rest of the team arrived without me, as I was navigating the A2, considering from which side of the road it would be best to approach.
Having finally arrived half an hour late, I was sad to discover that we were already 2-0 down. Hamster and I managed to pull one back whilst Guy and Chris eventually lost a tough game to their firsts. Unfortunately, the rest of the match followed a very similar vein, with many close results but not much in the way of the proverbial cigars. Hamster and I came out on the better side of our other game, bringing the end result to 6-2.
From the little I did see of the other games, I honestly do think that the two teams were very evenly matched in terms of strength, something that is, perhaps, not reflected by a 6-2 loss. The scores could quite easily have been reversed. We've come a long way since last season and with a few more hard training sessions we should be on for a good season.
